Love My Native Plant Garden

All of my native plants are growing nicely.  I moved the blazing star from a pot on my deck to the ground next to the boneset.  It didn’t grow much last year, so I’m hoping it will thrive in it’s native soil.  The swamp rose mallow needs to be moved as well because the deer like to eat it.

Growing native plants is so easy.  They’re low maintenance and beneficial to wildlife as well as the environment.  They provide pollen for insects, shelter for animals, and feed birds.  I love that I don’t have to water them much or use fertilizer and chemicals.  I enjoy all of the interesting insects and wildlife I get to see.

My other native wildflowers are purple flowering raspberry, columbine, lobelia, ox eye, & obedient plant.  Then there are the natives that grow wild in the woods and rock garden.  They are geranium, mountain laurel, mayapple, jewelweed, jack-in-the-pulpit, raspberry, violets, trout lily, and more.

If you want to start a garden then definitely consider native plants and wildflowers!
